From the market to your mouth: Saint Lucia’s colourful cuisine

In this final episode of the series, the Basecampers dive deep into local Saint Lucian culture. Troy takes the team to Castries Market (in the heart of the island’s capital that goes by the same name) to meet up with a famous chef, Orlando Satchell.

The colours, sounds, sights and the smells live up to the spicy and eclectic reputation of Caribbean cuisine from the region. Aftering grabbing ingredients, the crew head to a heritage home called Greenwood Terrace, perched on the outlying hills of Castries, to prepare their feast. From pumpkin and spinach soup, to Cocoa Mahi Mahi, Orlando shared mouth-watering secrets of the regional delicacies. The adventure continued late into the night with a bustling, beachside jump-up street party. The perfect day and way to end the trip: music, drinks, rubbing shoulders with the locals.
